Taster Sessions

So you'd like to give canoeing a try? Great! We're running free taster sessions on Saturdays throughout the year, 9-10am (be at the club for 8.30am) on the following Saturdays:

Due to boat and coach availability, places on the taster course are strictly limited. Therefore, if you would like to come along, please select a date you would like to attend from the list above and register your details on the site. Each paddler attending must be registered individually, but if you are a parent registering on behalf of multiple children you may reuse the same email address and contact number.

Please note that children must be a minimum of 8 years old to participate.

Following on from each taster day we will invite you to become a member of the Club and ask you to pay the subscription relevant at that time.
Once a member we will then invite you to return the following week ( if you are available ) to take part in a 3 week introductory training course. ( if you cannot make the next week don't worry we understand we all have busy lives )  You do not need to sign up to this course at this stage, we will send you information about this after the taster day.
These 3 sessions are free as you will have become a member of the Club. After these 3 weeks we will then wish to transfer you to either the Adult or Junior coaching session groups we also operate on Saturday morning at Southampton Canoe Club.

The event is to be held at:

Woodmill Activity Centre
Woodmill Lane, Swaythling, Southampton
Hampshire, SO18 2JR
We will be running one session 9.00-10.00am, please ensure you arrive promptly  approximately half an hour before to allow you time to get changed.

If you have any medical conditions we should be made aware of please do so before you take part in the activity. Please complete a consent form (available on the day) for anyone under 18.

Make sure you bring a change of clothes to all course and taster days.
Changing rooms and Showers are available at the centre.

Please also make sure that you wear appropriate clothing for the weather that day - A cagoule and hat and gloves are needed especially if it is cold and windy and sometimes even when sunny on a cold day.

As our boats are quite fragile we like you to wear light-soled shoes in our boats - wet / beach shoes are available from most supermarkets and outdoor centres.

We look forward to seeing you on the day and most of all we hope you have fun!

We provide the boat, the paddle and the buoyancy aid.
